Mock interviews with an AI interviewer
cookie’s AI interviewer asks one question at a time and follows up on what you say, then writes a report on what went well and what to work on.
A sample mock interview for Engineering at Cambridge. The AI interviewer asks how a ball’s height changes as it bounces on a trampoline, the student answers, and the report lights up in three parts: what went well, what to work on, and how they thought aloud.
What you get with a mock interview
The practice of answering out loud, and a written report afterwards.
Real interviews to pick from
Oxford, Cambridge and other universities, medicine, US colleges, graduate jobs, internships, banking, consulting, software and more, or one you describe.
Problems as well as questions
Talk through questions in the chat, and answer problems by typing, on the whiteboard or with a photo, with a hint if you get stuck.
A report at the end
What went well, what to work on and how you went about it, with advice on your CV or personal statement if you ask for it.
How a mock interview works
- 1Choose the interviewPick a real interview or describe your own, and add your personal statement, CV or a job description to be asked about.
- 2Answer the interviewerIt asks one question at a time and follows up on your answer, as an interviewer would.
- 3Read your reportSee what went well and what to work on, and find every interview with its report in Past interviews.
Reading model answers, or answering out loud
Practising alone
- You know the answers on paper but not out loud
- Nobody asks a follow-up question
- Nobody tells you how it went
- Hard to find someone to practise with
A mock interview in cookie
- You answer as you would in the room
- Follow-ups on what you actually said
- A written report with what to work on
- Another interview whenever you want one
What students practise for
Oxbridge and university interviews
Practise thinking aloud through a problem, as a subject interview asks you to.
Medicine and dentistry
Practise for a medical or dental school interview, set to the usual length of the real one.
Internships and graduate jobs
Prepare for banking, consulting or software interviews, and have your CV checked against the job.
Mock interview FAQ
Which interviews can I practise?
Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial and other UK universities, medicine and dentistry, US colleges, graduate jobs and internships, banking, consulting, software engineering and more, or one you describe yourself.
How long is a mock interview?
Each starts at the real interview’s usual length, which you can change. The length is how much you would be asked in that time, not a timer.
Can a mock interview check my personal statement or CV?
Yes. Tick Review my documents at the end for advice on them, or use Check my application for advice on a CV, personal statement or cover letter without an interview.
Does a mock interview use credits?
Yes. Each interview uses credits and shows an estimate first.
Can the report be wrong?
It is AI, so it can be. Read the report as a guide to what to practise next, alongside advice from a teacher or tutor.
