GCSE Computer Science questions, generated and marked

cookie generates GCSE Computer Science questions from material you choose and marks what you write against a mark scheme with partial credit, including the algorithm, pseudocode and trace-table questions that carry most of the marks. Spaced repetition then returns each topic on a schedule set by how well you answered it.

Decks in the library for this

There are 5 public decks for this, built from published exam-board material. Import one and you get a private copy to practise from and change.

Algorithms on paper, which is how they are examined

The exam asks you to write or trace an algorithm on paper in pseudocode, not to run it. That is a different skill from programming, and the only way to practise it is to write answers and have them marked.

cookie marks the steps rather than the output, so a loop with the right structure and an off-by-one error scores what it should.

Common questions

Does it mark real code?

It marks what a Computer Science paper asks for, which is usually pseudocode or a written explanation. It is not a code runner.

Which board is it for?

Any of them. The official decks name their board, and your own notes produce questions in the shape of whatever course you are doing.

We run our own tutoring service alongside this. Lessons are live and one-to-one over video and a shared whiteboard, the first 15 minutes with anybody is free, and every tutor and student gets cookie at no extra cost.
