GCSE English questions, generated and marked
cookie generates GCSE English Language and Literature questions from material you choose, including your own notes on a set text, and marks what you write against criteria it produces with the question. Spaced repetition decides when a text comes back, and the marking is what makes the practice worth doing, because an English answer is never simply right or wrong.

An answer that is judged, not checked
English marks are given for what an answer does: whether it makes a point, supports it from the text, and says something about how the writer achieved an effect. Nobody can mark that for themselves from a printed answer, which is why English revision so often becomes re-reading.
cookie marks each criterion on its own and says what it credited, so you can see that the point landed and the analysis did not, rather than only that the answer was worth five out of ten.
Your set texts, your notes
A deck built from your own notes on Macbeth produces questions about Macbeth. That is usually better than a generic one, because it is the edition, the extracts and the themes your class actually covered.
Language and Literature can sit in separate decks, since the two papers ask genuinely different things of an answer.
Common questions
Can it mark an essay?
It marks an exam-length answer against a scheme, which is what a GCSE English paper asks for. It is not a coursework service and it does not write an answer for you to submit.
Does it know my set text?
It knows what you put in the deck. Notes on the text, quotations you have collected and your teacher's guidance all work, and the questions come from those.
