GCSE Maths questions, generated and marked
cookie generates GCSE Maths questions from source material you choose, marks the working you write with method and accuracy marks the way a mark scheme does, and uses spaced repetition to bring each topic back just before you would forget it. You can type an answer, with LaTeX if you want it, photograph the working you did on paper, or draw on the whiteboard.
Decks in the library for this
There are 5 public decks for this, built from published exam-board material. Import one and you get a private copy to practise from and change.
Method marks are most of the paper
A GCSE Maths answer is rarely all or nothing. Marks go to a correct method, to a correctly substituted formula and to the final value separately, which is why marking your own work against a printed answer teaches you so little: you can see that the answer is wrong without seeing which mark you actually lost.
cookie marks each criterion on its own and tells you what it awarded and why, so a question you got wrong still shows you the two marks out of four that you had earned.
Photograph the working rather than retyping it
Maths done properly is done on paper, and retyping it is both slow and a source of mistakes that were never in your working. Take a photograph of the page instead and the marking reads it, including the crossings out.
Where typing is easier, the answer box takes LaTeX and shows you a live preview of what it will render as.
Common questions
Can it do Higher and Foundation tier?
Yes. The difficulty follows the source material, so a deck built from a Higher paper produces Higher questions and one built from your Foundation class notes produces those.
Does it show the working for the answer?
Every marked answer comes with a worked solution, so you can see the route to the answer rather than only the answer.
What if I think a mark is wrong?
Say so on the answer and the AI reconsiders it with your reasoning in front of it. If you have a tutor on Cookie Tutoring, they can correct the mark themselves.
Would you rather have a person as well?
We run our own tutoring service alongside this. Lessons are live and one-to-one over video and a shared whiteboard, the first 15 minutes with anybody is free, and every tutor and student gets cookie at no extra cost.
