Terms of Service
Last updated 12 August 2026
Agreement
By creating an account or using cookie, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.
What cookie is
cookie generates exam-style practice questions from source material you provide (e.g. past papers and mark schemes), marks your answers using AI, and schedules what to review next using spaced repetition. Question generation and marking are performed by third-party AI models (Anthropic and/or OpenAI) — they're generally accurate but can make mistakes, same as any AI system. Treat cookie as a study aid, not an official examiner or a guarantee of your real exam result.
Your account
- You must provide accurate information and keep your login details secure.
- One account per person. You're responsible for activity on your account.
- A username is required and must be unique — we may reject offensive or impersonating usernames.
- You must be capable of forming a binding contract to use cookie (see “Children” in our Privacy Policy).
Subscriptions, credits, and billing
- cookie offers a free plan with limited monthly credits, and a paid Pro plan with a higher allowance. Credits are consumed by AI-powered actions like generating and marking questions.
- Pro subscriptions are billed via Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime from the billing portal — you'll keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
- Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law, or at our discretion for a genuine billing error.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content you don't have the right to use (e.g. copyrighted material you're not licensed to reproduce).
- Use cookie to generate or share unlawful, harassing, or hateful content.
- Attempt to circumvent credit limits, rate limits, or security controls.
- Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the service outside its intended use.
- Impersonate another person or misuse the username system.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, remove content that violates them (including public decks or reviews), or, for serious or repeated abuse, do so without prior notice.
Your content
You retain ownership of the source material you upload and the answers you write. By uploading content, you grant cookie a licence to process it (including sending it to our AI providers) solely to provide the service to you. You're responsible for making sure you have the right to upload and use any material you submit.
Public decks
If you choose to make a deck public, its questions become visible to other users, and your source material may be summarised or referenced in it. By default, public decks are shown without attribution to you. You can make a deck private again at any time, which removes it from public browsing (existing copies other users have already made of it are not affected).
Tutor & student features
If you use cookie's tutor features (as a tutor or a student), your tutor may be able to see your practice activity, scores, and assigned work within decks they've shared with you. Tutor status is granted manually — see our tutoring page for how that works today.
Disclaimers
cookie is provided “as is.” AI-generated questions and marking may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or not perfectly aligned with a specific exam board's real mark scheme — always use your own judgement, and don't treat a cookie score as a guaranteed predictor of your real exam result. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, cookie is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including exam outcomes. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of cookie after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
