A-Level Chemistry questions, generated and marked

cookie generates A-Level Chemistry questions from material you choose and marks what you write against a mark scheme with partial credit, across mechanisms, moles calculations and the explanation questions that ask why rather than what. Spaced repetition then returns each topic on a schedule set by how well you answered it.

Decks in the library for this

There are 7 public decks for this, built from published exam-board material. Import one and you get a private copy to practise from and change.

Organic mechanisms and the marks inside them

A mechanism is marked on its arrows, its intermediates and its charges, each worth something on its own. Writing one out and having it marked in pieces is the only way to find out which part you are consistently guessing.

Photograph a mechanism you drew on paper and the marking reads it, which is far quicker than trying to type one.

Calculations where the method is the mark

A moles calculation gives marks for the route as well as the answer, so an arithmetic slip near the end should cost one mark rather than all of them. That is how cookie marks it, and it says which mark it withheld.

Common questions

Can it mark a drawn mechanism?

Yes, from a photograph or from the whiteboard. Handwritten chemistry is read less reliably than typed text, so write clearly and check what it read back.

Which specification does it follow?

Whichever your deck holds. The official decks name their board, and your own notes produce questions shaped by your own course.

Would you rather have a person as well?

We run our own tutoring service alongside this. Lessons are live and one-to-one over video and a shared whiteboard, the first 15 minutes with anybody is free, and every tutor and student gets cookie at no extra cost.
