Flashcards for CCEA GCE Software Systems Development, split into the two externally examined units, AS 1 Introduction to Object Oriented Development and A2 1 Systems Approaches and Database Concepts, then by topic in the specification's order. Follows the specification for first teaching from 2016 (updated September 2019), with code in C#.

Adding it gives you your own copy, with every subdeck below. Each card then comes back just before you would forget it, and every one you get right or wrong counts towards your mastery of its topic. You can delete or suspend the parts you are not studying once it is yours.

    Dynamic Systems Development Method (DSDM)
  • Entity
Something about which data is stored, such as a customer or an order
  • What is a software systems development project?
A planned piece of work to build or change a computer system so that it meets an organisation's needs
  • Sequence
A control structure in which statements run one after another in the order they are written
  • A standard set of diagrams for describing the design of software, especially object-oriented systems
    UML (Unified Modelling Language)
  • Waterfall model
A traditional methodology in which each stage is completed and signed off before the next begins
  • What is project management?
Planning, organising and controlling the people, time, money and other resources needed to finish a project
  • Rapid Application Development (RAD)
An iterative methodology that builds a system quickly by using prototypes, user feedback and reusable components
  • Why is testing needed throughout the development cycle?
Errors found early are cheaper to correct than those found after the system is in use
  • Primitive data type
A basic built-in type that holds a single simple value, such as a whole number or a character
