Flashcards for WJEC GCE AS and A level Mathematics (1300, Wales), split into the four units (AS Unit 1 Pure Mathematics A, AS Unit 2 Applied Mathematics A, A2 Unit 3 Pure Mathematics B, A2 Unit 4 Applied Mathematics B) and then by topic in the specification's order, with statistics and mechanics as separate subdecks inside the applied units. Follows the specification teaching from 2017.

Adding it gives you your own copy, with every subdeck below. Each card then comes back just before you would forget it, and every one you get right or wrong counts towards your mastery of its topic. You can delete or suspend the parts you are not studying once it is yours.

Some of its cards

  • How do you solve simultaneous equations when one is linear and one is quadratic?
Make one variable the subject of the linear equation, substitute into the quadratic and solve
  • What is the relationship between integration and differentiation?
Integration is the reverse of differentiation
  • What is the gradient of the line through (x1,y1)(x_1, y_1) and (x2,y2)(x_2, y_2)?
    y2−y1x2−x1\frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1}
  • What are the SI base units of length, time and mass?
Metre (m), second (s) and kilogram (kg)
  • What is n!n!?
    n(n−1)(n−2)⋯3×2×1n(n-1)(n-2)\cdots 3 \times 2 \times 1
  • What is the identity for sec⁡2θ\sec^2\theta?
    sec⁡2θ≡1+tan⁡2θ\sec^2\theta \equiv 1 + \tan^2\theta
  • What does dydx\frac{dy}{dx} represent geometrically?
The gradient of the tangent to the curve at that point
  • What are the steps of a proof by contradiction?
Assume the statement is false, reason logically to something impossible, then conclude the statement is true
  • How do you resolve a force on a slope?
Take components parallel and perpendicular to the slope
  • What is the moment of a force about a point?
The force multiplied by the perpendicular distance from the point to the line of action
