cookie and Anki compared

Anki is a flashcard program that schedules each card for when you are most likely to forget it, with a computer version, AnkiWeb for syncing and apps for Android and iPhone. cookie has flashcards scheduled with FSRS, which Anki also offers, and it also writes exam-style questions from your notes and marks your written answers against a mark scheme. You can open an Anki deck in cookie and keep each card’s schedule.

What each one is for

cookie is a revision app for exams such as GCSEs and A-levels that learns your level in each topic. It writes exam-style questions from your own notes and marks your answers the way an examiner would, and it has flashcards, past papers, notes and a revision plan in the same place. Every marked answer and flashcard rating adds to a score for its topic, and those scores decide what comes back and when.

Anki is a flashcard program for remembering things. It schedules the next review of each card for when you are most likely to forget it, so you spend more time on material you find hard and less on what you already know. Cards can hold audio, pictures, video and scientific markup, and decks are commonly shared on AnkiWeb. Source: apps.ankiweb.net

Side by side

Each row is something both apps do, and the Anki column says it the way Anki’s own pages do. A row is here only if Anki’s own pages say it, so something missing from this table may still be in Anki: check its pages.

Common questions

Can I bring my Anki decks into cookie?

Yes. Export the deck from Anki on a computer as a .apkg file and open it in Import from Anki. You can study it in your browser straight away, with each card’s schedule carried over, and save it to your account when you are ready.

Does cookie schedule cards the way Anki does?

cookie schedules flashcards with FSRS, which Anki also offers beside its older SM-2. A card comes back just before you would forget it, sooner if you found it hard and later if you didn’t.

What does cookie do besides flashcards?

It writes multi-part, exam-style questions from your own notes and marks what you write against a mark scheme, with partial credit and a worked solution, and you can do past papers in it with a timer. Your marks and card ratings add to a score for each topic, which decides what comes back and gives weaker topics more time in your revision plan.

How much does cookie cost?

Without Pro, an account has a daily and a monthly allowance of credits for what the AI does, such as writing and marking questions, and Pro gives you more for a monthly or yearly price. Studying flashcards, marking a past paper yourself and making a revision plan without the AI use no credits. The prices are on the plans and pricing page.

Is cookie connected to Anki?

No. cookie is a separate app, not made by or connected to Anki, and this page was written by cookie. Each row of the table links to the Anki page it was read from and the day it was checked, and features and prices change, so check there before you choose.
