Flashcards for Pearson Edexcel GCSE Physics (1PH0), split into Paper 1 and Paper 2 and then by the specification's numbered topics, with Topic 1 and working scientifically, which both papers test, in a subdeck of their own. The eight core practicals sit in the topics they belong to, and Higher-tier cards say so. Delete or suspend any subdeck your course leaves out once the deck is yours.

Adding it gives you your own copy, with every subdeck below. Each card then comes back just before you would forget it, and every one you get right or wrong counts towards your mastery of its topic. You can delete or suspend the parts you are not studying once it is yours.

Some of its cards

  • A cell
Circuit symbol: two parallel lines, one long and thin, one short and thick
  • A star about the mass of the Sun goes through these stages: nebula, main sequence star, red giant, [...].
A star about the mass of the Sun goes through these stages: nebula, main sequence star, red giant, white dwarf.
  • Direct potential difference
A p.d. that always acts in the same direction
  • Name three kinds of nuclear reaction that can be a source of energy.
    Fission, fusion and radioactive decay
  • Why does stretching, squashing or bending an object need more than one force?
With only one force the object would just move off; opposing forces are needed to change its shape
  • Why is an astronaut's weight smaller on the Moon than on Earth?
The gravitational field strength on the Moon is smaller, because the Moon has much less mass
  • Big Bang theory
The Universe began about 13.8 billion years ago from an extremely small, hot, dense region, and has been expanding ever since
  • What is at the centre of an atom, and what charge does it have?
A nucleus of protons and neutrons, which is positively charged
  • What happens to a resistor when there is a current in it?
It heats up: energy is transferred to its thermal store
  • A force between objects that are not touching, acting through a field
    Non-contact force
