Flashcards for Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level H2 Physics (9478), split into the syllabus's own six sections (Foundations of Physics, Mechanics, Waves, Thermal Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics) and then by numbered topic in the syllabus's order. Formula cards say whether the formula is given on the exam's data and formulae pages or must be recalled.

Adding it gives you your own copy, with every subdeck below. Each card then comes back just before you would forget it, and every one you get right or wrong counts towards your mastery of its topic. You can delete or suspend the parts you are not studying once it is yours.

Some of its cards

  • What is a free oscillation?
A repeating oscillation in which no energy is added by a driving force or removed by resistive forces, so the particle keeps returning to the same equilibrium position with unchanged amplitude
  • What does it mean to say a physical system stores energy?
The system has the capacity to do work or transfer energy because of its state, such as its motion, position or composition
  • What is a systematic error?
An error that causes readings to differ from the true value by a consistent amount or in a consistent direction
  • How is magnetic flux defined?
The magnetic flux density multiplied by the area at right angles to the field it passes through
  • What does Coulomb's law state?
The force between two point charges in free space or air is proportional to the product of the charges and inversely proportional to the square of their separation
  • What does the principle of superposition state?
When two or more waves meet at a point, the resultant displacement is the vector sum of the displacements each wave would produce on its own
  • What is the SI base unit of mass?
    The kilogram (kg)
  • What does a kilowatt hour (kWh) measure?
A unit of energy, the energy transferred by a 1 kW appliance running for 1 hour
  • What does it mean for a scale of temperature to be thermodynamic?
It has an absolute zero and is defined independently of the properties of any particular substance
  • What does Newton's law of gravitation state?
Any two point masses attract each other with a force proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them
